I'm not really sure where to begin this entry. I'm pretty sure it's just going to feel like a tornado with information strewn all over, but rest assured it's like a fine braid... there are a few pieces you need in order to make it happen, but once you do you can rubberband it at the end and it looks good and makes sense. lol
Once. That is the name of a movie that I heart so much! The first time I ever watched this movie, I was so taken by it that I immediately (and when I say immediately, I mean I within 30 seconds of the credits rolling I was over to my purse getting out my credit card and walking back to my laptop ready to shop) went online and started looking for cds by Glen Hansard. I found them. I bought them. I love them. I have Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova as The Swell Season. I have The Frames. I have the soundtrack to Once. I don't know how to describe the music except that it touches my soul in such a strong way. It pulls at me and twists my emotions and makes me yearn.
Moving right along. Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It is officially one of my favorite movies. I have watched it so many times and I always laugh. (You know it's a good comedy if I actually laugh and it's not because I'm laughing at corny jokes.) Well after watching it I became a big fan of Jason Segel. I couldn't wait to see I Love You Man simply because he was in it. (Okay, so I've also had a thing for Paul Rudd since he was in Clueless. Moving right along...)
And now the third strand of my "braid". Twilight. Well, not really Twilight, but Vampires. As you know from my previous entry I'm reading the book. And it reminded me of the Vampire Musical from Forgetting Sarah Marshall. So I started surfing the internet and came across the best youtube video ever.
And with that I now share with you.... Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova, AND Jason Segel.
Ta-Da!!!

Seriously. Click on the link. Watch the video. I'm not a youtube fanatic. I generally don't share this kind of stuff with people because that would involve me actually frequenting youtube.
Watch, listen to the lyrics. Enjoy. I did.

"It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better..."
I am appalled at the fact that the last time I wrote here was nearly a year ago. I am even more upset at the fact that there are so many freaking ideas bouncing around in my head to write about, and yet I'm apparently too lazy to come here and write about them. But can you feel that? That eerie, unsure feeling in the air? That's change in the air folks. That's right. My friend has recently started blogging again in a more daily practice, and so I'm going to try and challenge myself to write more frequently as well. Now don't get this confused with me writing about super important topics. I just can't guarentee that. Maybe every now and then. But not all the time. For instance, I can't believe that after almost a year, my next blog is about... can I even say it? It makes me shudder just thinking about it. I can do this. My next topic is... *breathe*
Twilight.
Yes, Twilight. As in the book that got everybody's panties in a bunch, Twilight.
I was given the book for Christmas last year, and I didn't ask for it. I didn't ask for it because I had no desire to read it. I'm not entirely sure WHY I didn't want to read it, but I didn't. So I graciously said thank you, and then stuffed the book on my bookshelf wherever it would fit, knowing it was going to collect dust. The only reason I kept is because it was a book. And I really, really like books. Maybe there would come a day when I had read every last book I've ever purchased, read every last electronics manual in the house, and there was absolutely nothing else to read... maybe then I would dust off my copy of Twilight and read it.
I'm not against books involving vampires. In fact, one of the best books I've ever read is called The Historian (By Elizabeth Kostova), and it circles around Dracula, so I can't really say that was my reason for not wanting to read it. Maybe I didn't want to read it because of all the hype. Sometimes I tend to not do things just for the pure fact that everyone else IS. (Sometimes, not always.) But if you re-read this last paragraph, you might notice that I said everything in past tense.
*Stands up*
My name is Swizzlestick and I'm a Twilight Closet Reader.
Except now that I'm writing about it here, I'm kind of out of the closet.
There is a lady at work who is an avid reader like me. She was anti-Twilight as well. And then someone clubbed her over the head with a 2x4, gagged her with a hankerchief, bound her to a wooden chair, and wouldn't let her go until she read the book. All of the book. From front to back. And after she finished reading it she actually had the guts to tell me that she read it. Not only did she read it, she liked it! And not only did she like it, but she says she can still remember how great the WHOLE ENTIRE SERIES was! So, I told her that because she liked it, that maybe, just maybe, I would give it a try. And so I did. And *gagging* I LOVE the book.
I heart Twilight. I started reading it on Saturday night right before I went to bed. On Sunday I woke up, threw on my robe, grabbed the book and went downstairs where I proceeded to snuggle on the couch and read Twilight. I would have sat there all day reading, but I had other stuff to do like copy down recipes from a cookbook my neighbor let me borrow, and watch That Touch of Mink with Cary Grant and Doris Day. But after a lot of recipe writing, and a two hour movie, I did what any Twilight Closet Reader would do. I looked around to make sure I was still alone, and then I burying myself under a blanket and kept on reading.
I am now half way through the book and already I had to stop after work to pick up the next book in the series. But before I start the second book, I have this craving to watch the movie! I know it won't be as good as the book because this author just has an amazing way with words (unlike myself... in fact, I can't believe you're still reading this post!). But nevertheless, I will watch the movie, too.
And I am suddenly aware of all the hype of Team Edward vs Team Jacob. While I'm only half way through the first book and don't know enough to really make a scholarly deduction, my vote is.... Team Edward.
I can't believe it was just last week that I told someone that Vampires suck! (Get it, Vampires suck?) Don't worry... plenty more lame jokes and boring blogs like this to come. Muah ha ha ha!
